Selous Tour Tanzania

TLS 4. 3 nights/4 days Selous Game Reserve. (By Air).

Day 1.
The domestic flight comences from the Dar Es Salaam International airport where the short flight lands at the airfield at Selous. Met on arrival by your hosts and transfered to the Rufiji River Camp for Lunch.
At or about 3 pm, have an evening game drive in the Selous Game Reserve, returning for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp/Selous Safari camp/Lake Manze Safari Camp/Sand Rivers or other of your choice.

Day 2.
After a morning game drive, the full day will be spent on safari looking for Elephant, Hunting Dogs, Hippos along the banks of the River, Lion, Leopard, Cape Buffalo and other wildlife. After a picnic lunch in the bush, depart for your base arriving in time for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp or other.

Day 3. Tanzania Safari
In the morning, we start an early walking safari before breakfast where the resident safari guide takes us through the bush to learn about the African Jungle and its animals. We return later for lunch at the camp
. The evening boat safari along the banks of the Rufiji River introduces some good game viewing and chances of catching Kills by the edge of the river. Later, return to the accommodations for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp or other Lodge.

Day 4.
Wake up call and an early breakfast before a short morning game drive in the Reserve.
We have an early lunch before noon then ctach the return flight back to Dar Es Salaam in the early afternoon.

Selous Game Reserve .

The selous Game Reserve in the Southern Part of Tanzania covers and area of over 54,000 square kilometers and is one of the most remote safari destinations in Tanzania harboring some very unique wildlife in Africa. The numbers of Wildlife are much higher in the selous game reserve and game viewing safaris in this park is considered the best because of the few numbers of safari trucks and tourists. The Selous game reserve boasts of huge numbers of elephants, cape buffalo wild dog or hunting dog packs, warthog, wildebeest, Impala, lion, leopard, Zebra and other wildlife. The selous game reserve is watered by the tributaries of the Rufiji which means that most of the Big game safari animals are mostly non migratory and are seen all year around. It is because of these water sources that game drives as well as boat cruises on the River are possible from the different safari camps or Lodges. Along the banks of the River Rufiji and the resultant oxbow lakes, it is possible to see animals at the water holes as well as kills. A selous safari tends to be favored for the months of June – October as well as the peak safari season of January and February every year. Otherwise, the camps are usually closed due to the heavy rainy seasons in the months of March to May apart from the permanent safari lodges
