Kilimanjaro Mountain Climbing Tour Tanzania

 

KILIMANJARO MOUNTAIN CLIMBING SAFARI VIA THE MACHAME ROUTE.


Day 1.
Drive from Arusha to the Mount Kilimanjaro climb base hotel for overnight H/B.


Day 2.
Morning breakfast before starting the Kilimanjaro climbing trip. You transfer to Machame Gate and start the climb through the gardens before passing the Kilimanjaro forest. Dinner and overnight at Machame Hut – Camping (3100hrs). (About 5 hours walking).


Day 3.
After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue with the climb along mountain paths. The trek crosses the valley and finally the walk along steep rocks gets us to the next night stop accommodations (3658m). meals and overnight at Shira Hut Campsite. (About 4hours walking).


Day 4
Morning breakfast before following the Mountain guides on the ascent that passes through the east Junction. We will be heading to the direction of the Kibo peak
and the Lava Tower. (4876m). We scale further down to the Barranco Hut (3860m) for overnight (About 6hours walking).


Day 5
The climb this day is through a very steep region of ridges along the Barranco mountain basel. We hike through the Karanga Valley and join the Mweka trail on the way to the Barafu Hut (4600m) where dinner finds us before spening our night here. (About 8 hours walking).


Day 6
The Highlight of our Kilimanjaro safari gets us starting early in the morning. We climb through the Stella Point (5745m) on the final ascent to the UHURU PEAK (5895m). This is a long hike that takes about 6 hours and we start the hike in the darkness to catch the first light at the summit by morning. At the end of our Kilimanjaro Mountain Top safari, we start the descent by heading to the Mweka Hut which is at an altitude of 5100m. We will have our meals here and overnight.
(This is the most strenuous walk as the walk is about 11 hours).


Day 7
7 The Mountain crew will prepare breakfast before the team finally descends down to the Mweka Gate. At the base, you will transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight H/B.


Day 8
The Kilimanjaro tour ends after a short drive back to Arusha.

Machame rates include:
Ground transfers with pick up and drop off at Arusha or JRO, park entrance fees, English speaking mountain Guide, porters, accommodation and meals with 2nights at the hotel as indicated on the above itinerary.


Machame rates exclude:
Lunch and dayroom use on Day 8, climbing equipment and sleeping bags, drinks, tipping and all other expenses of personal nature.

Kilimanjaro Climb Information:

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, usually referred to as the “roof of Africa”, The Mount Kilimanjaro comprises of three volcanic cones which are’ Mount Kibo Mount Shira and Mawenzi Volcanoes. It should be noted that these are inactive volcanoes and the only volcanic activity on the mountain is only through vents in the side of the Mountain. The highest point in Africa is at 5,892 at Uhuru a highlight for a Kilimanjaro Safari climber.

It is also at this Mountain that you find snow right across the equator. Mount Kilimanjaro was formed as a result of eruption whereby, the molten rock materials were blown out of a volcanic cone and these mataerals building up to form a large volcanic mountain. The Kilimanjaro Mountain safari makes use of its three Volcanic cones.

It is on these cone that tourist routes are planned. The Kilimanjaro is a local word reffering to a little Mountain and was seen by one of the first explorers in the region by the Names of John Rebman and also was named Kilimansharo or Kilimantsaro at the time when Tanzania was governed under the German East Africa. The Kilimanjaro climbing routes up to the Peaks are the following: Marangu, Lemosho,Rongai, Umbwe Shira, and Machame the most beautiful of all these climbs. However, you should note that the Machame Kilimanjaro climb is much steeper.

The Mount Kilimanjaro Rongai climb happens to the the simplest route although, one is expected to stay in mobile tents. The Marangu Mountain climb is the most popular where mountain hikers stay at the Mountain huts along the way. Due to the volume of Mountain Climbers on this route, you will expect this to be a little crowded and very busy. The Vegetation cover on Mount Kilimanjaro comprises of tussock grasslands, Montane forests, heath, Giant Lobelia, bamboo and other unique plants.
